NHR Alliance

The National High-Performance Computing Center at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (NHR@KIT) hosted at Scientific Computing Center (SCC) is a key player in the National High-Performance Computing (NHR) Alliance, which aims to support cutting-edge research and innovation through high-performance computing.

The NHR Alliance bundle the resources and competencies of university high-performance computing and make them available to scientists at German universities free of charge. The NHR Alliance does not limit itself to providing computing capacities, but also supports users in particular by providing advice and training in the use of high-performance computing in their fields of application. Within the national network, our services are broadly diversified in terms of subject matter and can be used on a supra-regional basis.

NHR Members

Alongside NHR@KIT, other NHR centers contributing to the NHR Alliance include:

  • NHR4CES – hosted at Technical University of Darmstadt & RWTH Aachen University

  • NHR@FAU – hosted at Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg

  • NHR@ZIB – hosted at Zuse Institute Berlin – Berlin University Alliance

  • PC2 – hosted at Paderborn University

  • NHR-NORD@Göttingen – hosted at Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen (GWDG)

  • NHR@SW – hosted at Goethe University Frankfurt, University of Kaiserslautern-Landau, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and Saarland University

  • NHR@TUD – hosted at Dresden University of Technology

The NHR Alliance, founded in August 2021, unites these centers to advance high-performance computing for research across Germany.
