NHR@KIT reflects on successful participation at ISC 2025 in Hamburg

NHR@KIT proudly looks back on a successful appearance at this year’s ISC High Performance 2025, held from June 10–13 in Hamburg. As part of a joint booth with other members of the NHR Alliance, the team from the National High Performance Computing Center at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (NHR@KIT) joined more than 3,500 participants in celebrating the 40th anniversary of Europe’s premier HPC event.

The conference and exhibition brought together a vibrant community of scientists, researchers, engineers, students, journalists, analysts, and 195 technology providers. With a focus on the convergence of cutting-edge computing paradigms — particularly the fusion of artificial intelligence and high performance computing (HPC), and an eye toward the emerging quantum computing era — ISC 2025 once again proved to be an essential hub for the global HPC ecosystem.

NHR@KIT’s presence at the event underscored its role in advancing sustainable, user-focused HPC in Germany and Europe. At the joint NHR Alliance booth, the team engaged with numerous attendees to showcase their latest work in scalable computing, user services, and research software engineering. The booth served not only as a space for technology exchange, but also as a meeting point for discussions on the future of academic HPC and its integration with AI-driven research workflows.

As part of Europe’s largest HPC exhibition, ISC 2025 offered a comprehensive program tailored to a wide spectrum of attendees — from early-career researchers to senior technology decision-makers. Visitors benefited from over 750 expert talks, dynamic networking opportunities, and deep dives into emerging technologies shaping the future of science and industry.

Key highlights of ISC 2025 that set it apart included its commitment to bridging community and technology, the diversity of its speaker lineup, and its inclusive, community-driven atmosphere. Whether it was discussing real-world challenges in HPC operations or exploring future-proof computing infrastructures, NHR@KIT found ISC an invaluable space to connect, learn, and contribute.
