User accounts

HoreKa is not available yet

This documentation is preliminary. The HoreKa system will be available for general use in Summer 2021.

Each individual project contributor must request access to HoreKa by completing the following three steps:

  1. Find out if you need a new account or you can use the same account name you are already using with your home institution.

  2. Get the entitlement by completing and handing in the registration form.

  3. After the registration has been accepted, register for the service.

Step 1: Account name

HoreKa relies on FeLS, a Federated Identity Management system that integrates with many academic institutions across Germany. This means users from institutions connected to FeLS can use the same account name they are using to access services at their home institution to also access the HPC services at KIT.

If your institution is listed on the following list, please enter your home institution account name on the registration form in Step 2. For logins on the HPC services at KIT your home user name has to be prefixed with the prefix mentioned in the list. So if you would happen to work at Hochschule Offenburg and your local account name was johnny.hpcuser, your login name on the HPC services at KIT would be of_johnny.hpcuser.

If your institution is not (yet) listed, you will be assigned a so-called "KIT partner account" instead.
